Safari Highlight

Day 1: Leave Kampala city and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Make a stop at Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe for amazing photo shoots and traditional lunch stop at Igongo Cultural Center

Day 2: Undertake Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and have an evening Batwa / Bakiga Cultural Performance at the lodge

Day 3: Transfer from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park back to Kampala

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Make a photo stop at the Uganda Equator crossing in Kayabwe and a traditional lunch stop at the Igongo Cultural Center.

After breakfast at your Kampala hotel, depart at 6:30 a.m. for the transition to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

You travel to the country’s south west, a 527-kilometer trip that takes almost 10 hours. You pass through Kampala traffic and link to the Masaka road on smooth tarmac for 77 kilometers, stopping at the Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe, where you can see the world’s main latitude that divides the world into the northern and southern hemispheres. It is a one-of-a-kind geographical location where water studies can be conducted to prove the geographical difference between the northern and southern hemispheres. With one leg in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere, you can take magical images. Return from your break and resume your journey to Bwindi. A typical lunch stop can be made at the Igongo Cultural Center, which is 12 kilometers from Mbarara, for local cuisine cooked in a modern environment and served with regular utensils. The food is grown organically and eaten fresh. Continue your journey through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands, arriving in the evening at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Go mountain gorilla tracking in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, followed by a Batwa / Bakiga cultural performance at the lodge in the evening.

This is an exciting day because it will be your long-awaited reunion with your long-lost cousins, the mountain gorillas. You meet at the park headquarters in the morning at 8 a.m. for a briefing and to be assigned to one of the gorilla families to track. From here, you’ll go to the forest with armed ranger guides who will take you up the mountain gorillas. The walk is unique in that it entails traversing the dense forest, which at times necessitates the use of a machete to cut a path, as well as hiking difficult landscapes, some of which are steep and slippery.

Day 3: Return to Kampala from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala. In the morning, you pass through the misty highlands of Kigezi before continuing through the stunning south western Uganda landscapes of Ntungamo, which have vast banana plantations and cattle farms. A lunch stop can be made at the Igongo Cultural Center, and another will be made at the Equator crossing Kayabwe to get some impressive images to remember your Uganda gorilla safari.
